If only many businesses would think like this. Burning people has huge impacts on their health, their confidence and it just isn’t a positive environment to set them up for success.
How have I seen businesses burn people? Poor processes, poor leadership, poor teamwork and poor culture. And the most common one is actually poor recruitment. Wrong person for the role.
Too often I see businesses blame the staff when there appears to be a ‘poor fit’ of a staff member. Whatever the key reason is, businesses need to look inward and reflect on how the work environment and culture are contributing to the problem. Ask the question ‘Why are we burning people?’
And constantly recruiting costs so much money! If only businesses would sit back and calculate how much it is costing them. They might get a big shock.
Of course, I am all for investing those dollars in the people. Develop your leaders, help your teams work together, engage your people and create a positive place to work.
Slow the burn I say!
