Are you a leader who is embarking on major change in your business?
Would you like to know how to build resilience in your team?
Recently in a series of posts on LinkedIn, Tracy has been sharing 7 tips on ‘How to build resilience in your team.’
Many people say they struggle with the HOW.
You don’t just wake up one morning, flick a switch and boom – you are resilient!
Change can be an emotional time for many due to confusion, stress and fatigue.
This is a pretty simple tip, yet very powerful. Regularly ask each of your team ‘How are you feeling?’
Why is this so important?
Feelings are emotions. Feelings drive behaviour. If we know how each of our team are feeling, we can help them. Simple as that.
Initially we suggest you have one-on-one time with each of your team to do this. Go gently, as some people aren’t used to expressing how they are feeling.
We also promote checking in with each of the team at the start of a meeting. It’s a bit ‘chicken before the egg’ – you need a level of trust for people to feel safe to share how they are feeling, but also by consistently doing this, it will build the trust among the team.
And the link to resilience?
It’s a positive way to identify how the team can help each other to tackle the challenges of change. And the greatest outcome…. this shows the team that it’s okay to be vulnerable. When you have that, you have such a strong foundation in changing times.
